🚀 Golf Gear Scoop! 【XXIO 14 & 14+】Demo Clubs Have Arrived! 🗓️ Golf Diary: Sunday, November 9, 2025
I recently paid a visit to my favorite local Golf Partner store!
The staff called out to me, "Perfect timing! We just got the demo clubs for the new XXIO models!"
As you know, Japanese club manufacturers typically release new products every two years. Yamaha announced and released their new model, and the national brand XXIO recently announced its monumental 14th generation, the "XXIO 14" and "XXIO 14+." I can't wait for the official launch!
🔩 The Highlight of the 14th Gen: The "Click-Clack" Feature!
One of the biggest changes to the new "XXIO 14" series is the adoption of the adjustable hosel, known in Japan as the "Kacha-Kacha" (click-clack) feature, which allows you to adjust the loft angle!
While the simple, fixed-design was a key selling point before, this is a welcome evolution for golfers who want more fine-tuning capability.
Test Drive Review: Starting with the "XXIO 14"!
I immediately got to test three demo clubs!
1. XXIO 14 (Shaft: R Flex)
Distance: I mishit the first shot a bit, but I connected well from the second shot onward! The launch monitor registered shots over 200 yards. That’s the kind of stability you expect from XXIO.
Sound: The familiar "kin!"—the refreshing sound characteristic of XXIO—is still there. That sound always boosts my spirits!
Overall: I was convinced this club is going to sell out. Its performance certainly meets the expectations of the target golfer demographic.
2. XXIO 14 (Shaft: SR Flex)
Feel: It wasn't bad, but I felt it was a little too easy to turn over for me.
Trajectory: I hit too many shots that launched left, showing a slight hook tendency. The shaft's characteristics felt too strong for my swing.
💀 Testing the Athlete Model: The "XXIO 14+"!
Next, I tried the athlete-oriented "XXIO 14+," which is the successor to the previous "XXIO X (Cross)" model. This is positioned as an LS (Low Spin) model, similar to offerings from other manufacturers.
Specs: The shaft flex was S.
Design: The head features a sleek, matte black finish—a very cool, subdued design! It looks seriously compact when you address the ball.
Shaft: It was equipped with the popular custom shaft, the Fujikura Speeder NX.
The Test Results...
The S flex specifications were a bit too demanding for me. As an athlete-focused club requiring more power, unfortunately, my swing wasn't a good match for it. It was a good reminder of how important it is to choose the right shaft flex!
💸 Will the Winter Bonus Be Spent on XXIO?
Regardless, the new "XXIO 14" series is, once again, superbly finished.
I am certain that many golfers, especially us "senior" golfers, will be using our winter bonuses to purchase this latest XXIO 14 series!
